Full Day

Begin (or end) your NC500 travels at ACE Adventures & Hideaways, tucked away by the River Findhorn – a 45 minute drive from Inverness.

They specialise in all things outdoors! Not only do they have a range of exciting activities to participate in, they offer the best white water rafting in the UK! Spend your day rafting, canyoning, river tubing, disc golf, cliff jumping, paintballing or canoeing or kayaking. Spend your first night with them in their rustic retreat, bell tent, or luxury shepherd’s hut! You may end up staying more than one night!

White Water Rafting: The best white water rafting in the UK! Enjoy a world class experience any day of the year!
Canoeing/Kayaking: Inflatable canoes and kayaks enable you to tackle up to grade 3 white water rapids.
Canyoning: The more adventurous form of gorge walking. Got a head for heights? You can absail down their 45 foot corkscrew waterfall + enjou jumping into pools, caving under trees, scrambling and swimming.
River Tubing & Cliff Jumping: The best river tubing in Scotland! Float down the river in an inflatable river ring! You will enjoy bouncing down the rapids. Cliff jumping is also known as tombstoning or coasteering in the UK and at ACE – it is particulary thrilling due to the dark tannin stained water of River Findhorn.

Evening Accommodation & Evening Meal

For your first night we recommend staying at ACE Adventures & Hideaways,choose between their:

Shepherd’s hut: A tranquil, luxury glamping experience! Their two handbuilt traditional shepherd’s huts are located in a quiet and private setting. Enjoy a cosy authentic glamping experience with a double bed, wood burner and outside log seating. Combined with a campfire and BBQ skillet.
Bell Tent: Nested in the birch woodland you will find their 6 metre canvas tents that sleep up to 7 people. A mix between the modern glamping experience and the traditional wild camping, the tent includes a rustic fire pit with removable grill for cooking (perfect for couples too).
Rustic Retreat: A rustic cattle byre steading offering a small kiosk which includes bags of seasoned hardwood for campfires and wood burners. Their off grid camp kitchen offers hot and cold water, for an authentic experience cooking can be done using their firepits with skillets. You may also use the off grid showers at the camp lean to. (Alternatively you can use the two ring cooker and their modern toilet and shower facilities).

Sleeping bags and bedding are also available if needed + power outlets can be used for charging devices with complimentary wifi.

Campsite: Camping the NC5o0 – pitch your tent within their secluded birch and scots pine woodland. Each pitch include a fire pit and cooking skillet.

Set up base

While many NC500 travellers spend one night in a handful of different locations as they travel the route, a large proportion of visitors opt to set up base in a number of locations around the route – spending a few nights in each place and getting to know the different regions that make up the route.
