Active Adventurer - Day 1

Inverness to Torridon (approx. 62 miles)

AM  Hope you enjoyed the trip to Inverness!

Hope you enjoyed the trip to Inverness!

As you journey through the attractive villages of Beauly and Muir of Ord, you may wish to stop for a morning coffee or breakfast at one of their cafes or local bakeries.  Arrived at lunch time? Then, delve into some traditional Scottish favourites with lunch at Coul House hotel.

Get stuck in and bag yourself a Munro!

A Munro is a Scottish mountain that exceeds 3,000 feet and there are 283 Munros throughout Scotland. They are named after Scottish mountaineer Sir Hugh Munro who, in 1891, compiled a list of them. ‘Munro bagging’ has become a widely popular pastime among walkers and mountaineers. If you manage to complete all 283 mountains, you are known as a ‘Munroest’! See how many you can bag in the North Highlands!

Whether you’re a keen walker or mountain biker, Ben Wyvis is a reasonable mountain to ease yourself into your week of adventure! It takes most people between 4-6 hours to walk to the summit and back. Remember to pack some goodies to replenish those calories burned! (Be aware of the weather and the hours of daylight and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

(Check out  the Walk Highlands website for more information)

PM Explore the unspoilt natural beauty of Wester Ross

Explore the unspoilt natural beauty of Wester Ross, famous for its spectacular sunsets, rugged scenery and golden sandy beaches.

Back behind the wheel! Drive a short distance back towards Garve and take the road to Gairloch. You will pass through the quaint wee villages of Achnasheen and Lochcarron before ascending the spectacular Bealach na Ba, Gaelic for ‘Pass of the Cattle’. This is an adrenaline filled drive and not for the faint hearted. Take in the breath-taking views of Raasay and the Isle of Skye from the summit.

(If you are travelling by motorhome and it is more than a standard VW T5 conversion (ie about 16 – 18 ft in length), please take the alternative route- A896)

Evening Torridon Estate

After passing through the picturesque village of Applecross, continue on along the Applecross peninsula for just over an hour to the stunning Torridon Estate. Tucked away in the beautiful corner of the Scottish Highlands you can choose to go full luxury with the Torridon Hotel , or the cosy Torridon Inn.

Torridon estate poses two options, both famous in their own right! Choose between fine dining at the luxury hotel or unwind at the Inn in with a traditional pub meal.

Alternatively, live among the deer at Ben Damph Estate! Ever stayed in a bothy? Enjoy a night stay at their no frills bothy – situated overlooking the stunning Torridon Mountains.
