About The Crofter’s Snug - Pods and Pitches

Would you like a COTTAGE/GLAMPING/MOTORHOME/CARAVAN stopover with amazing sea views? If so, Karina and Jo would love to welcome you at The Crofter’s Snug and be part of your NC500 journey.

We’re located six miles west of John O’Groats, just a field or two away from the route so ideally placed to explore this fabulous stretch of the Caithness coastline.

We all love travelling but it can be exhausting! Our job is to do our best to make your stay a unique, comfortable and fun experience so you can recharge your batteries before continuing on your way.

We have the following self-catering options to choose from: two pods, a shepherd’s hut and a cottage.

Pod One:  Sleeps 2+2. Double Bed + sofa bed. Ensuite. Kitchenette. Firepit. Pet friendly.
Pod Two:   Sleeps 2+2. King size Bed + sofa bed. Ensuite. Kitchenette. Firepit. Pet friendly
Shepherd’s Hut:  Sleeps 2. King size Bed. Kitchenette. Ensuite. Log burning cooking stove. Firepit. (not suitable for pets)

The Cottage: Sleeps 2. Double Bed. Living Room. Kitchen. Bathroom. Enclosed garden. Pet friendly.

and 5x motorhome/caravan pitches (NB no toilet/shower facilities for the pitches).

Black and grey waste disposal, EHU, walks from the site.

There is so much to do in the area. Two fantastic walks direct from the site, Castle of Mey in one direction, St John’s Point in the other – both 25 minutes. John O’Groats, Duncansby Head, Dunnet Bay, Dunnet Head and Dunnet Distillery are all a c.15 minute drive away. Orkney Mainland can be visited from either Pentland Ferries at Gills Bay (2 miles down the road) or Northlink Ferries at Scrabster. The list goes on!
