Festive Events & Christmas Fairs

The NC500 is brimming with superb events this winter, from foodie festivals, Christmas markets, unique shopping experiences and entertainment to traditional Scottish ceilidhs and the ever so popular Hogmanay… Hogmanay is what we Scots call New Year’s Eve!

Saturday 1st December// CHRISTMAS MARKET at Fortrose Academy

Get in the festive spirit at Fortrose Academy Christmas Market. With over 20 stalls offering a wide range of treats and goodies from arts and crafts to home baking and herbal teas, it’s the perfect place to get all your Christmas gifts.

The market has been organised by pupils with all funds raised go to Fortrose Academy Rock Challenge (from 10am-3pm

Tea and cake will also be available.

Friday 7th December at The Old Brewery (Sutor Creek Cafe) // GLENWYVIS GIN AND SUTOR CREEK TASTING DINNER
Sutor Creek are excited to announce that they have teamed up with GlenWyvis Distillery to host a 5 course Tasting menu and gin pairing night at The Old Brewery.
GlenWyvis Distillery’s Brand Ambassador Craig MacRitchie has designed a gin cocktail menu to perfectly complement each of the dishes created by Sutor Creek’s Chef Graham Fox. Craig will be on hand to guide you through each gin cocktail and share the story of GlenWyvis – a sustainable, community-owned distillery making the finest Highland single malt whisky and GoodWill craft gin.
£65 per person.

Flutter is an interactive, immersive performance for 2-6 year olds that takes its audience on a multi-sensory journey through a world of winter snow. Location: Lyth Arts Centre. Find out more here.

Saturday 8th December // Dinner with Jamie Scott 

Jamie Scott will be hosting a dinner at Dornoch Castle Hotel on the 8th December. He is well known for being the winner of ‘Masterchef – The Professionals’ and has just won restaurant of the year for his own restaurant ‘The Newport’
The menu will be priced at £70.00 per person.

Friday December 14th //The Teuchter’s Comedy Club

Join the hilarious Teuchter’s Comedy Club and there comedy night at The Muir Hub at 7.30pm with a Bring Your Own Bottle policy. If you haven’t got a Christmas night out planned then here it is! A hilarious night of Christmas comedy!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday (14th – 16th) December// Winter Wonderland

Wander through a winter wonderland at Whin Park in Inverness.

For those who hold Christmas in their hearts, the play park and boating pond are transformed into a magical sparkling experience after dark. The event is particularly aimed at families with younger children – watch their eyes light up in wonder at the illuminations and light sculptures. Meet Santa and meet Rudolph and his friends – you may even get the chance to rub their velvety noses.

Entertainment will be provided on each night by regular favourites and after you’ve had a shot on the park’s swings and slides, have a go on the inflatable Walk on Water balls on the boating lake. If you haven’t tried them before, they’re great fun for all ages. You can walk, jump, flip, crawl, roll or just float and relax on the water without getting wet.For more sparkle and smiles, visit the funfair which has rides suitable for all the family.
