The Tongue Hotel was originally built as a Hunting Lodge in the mid 1800’s for the Duke of Sutherland. The unique character and atmosphere of the lodge has been maintained throughout, much of the furniture, pictures and exhibits you will see are original and offer a glimpse into the past golden age of Highland touring. Photographs of the Hotel in the Dining Room and Brass Tap bar depict the Lodge and subsequent Hotel through the passing ages. But this is not a museum! We are proud of this historic building yet still we offer all the comforts of modern life; elegant bedrooms, spectacular views, spacious bathrooms, beautiful public rooms, wireless internet access within the public areas, digital TV, BT sports in the bar, a breakfast fit for a Duke and a choice of places to wine and dine! We believe this is a Hotel that you can relax in; we aim to provide a genuinely warm welcoming atmosphere, offering excellent service, comfort and an attention to detail.
