Old Drynie House
Old Drynie House offers the ideal accommodation choice for those looking for a B&B at the start and end of NC500, near Inverness, Scotland. Our aim is to offer you a fantastic experience when it comes to finding a luxury bed and breakfast on the Black Isle.
We are situated in a prime location. Our bed and breakfast in the Scottish Highlands is centrally located and within touching distance of a huge range of scenery, heritage, culture and outdoor activities.
The bed and breakfast can be found at the end of a long lime tree-lined downhill drive. It was built in a traditional style in 1993, on the site of a ruined mansion house. The stone portico of that original house still stands at the front.
The house itself has an imposing but simple charm. Old Drynie House is a delightfully furnished and decorated house built 25 years ago to a high standard. The house is situated in the middle of 20 acres of beautiful parkland consisting of gardens, three paddocks and a mature beechwood. Outside, one paddock serves as a golf driving range. We have a full sized snooker table with other games available.
The garden around the house extends to about one acre and contains more mature specimen trees, such as two magnificent Cedars of Lebanon, wellingtonias, monkey puzzles, an evergreen oak, and many fine firs among too many other species to mention. Views from the front of the house are over the inner part of the Moray Firth, and we’ve constructed a
Despite being just 10 minutes from the city, we are based in the middle of twenty acres of wonderful Victorian planted parkland with fantastic sea views, it is an ideal location to stay and explore the Highlands of Scotland, including the North Coast 500 road trip.
We offer free Wi-Fi and free on-site parking. This traditional property is just 10 minutes’ drive from central Inverness, providing fantastic access to the Black Isle and Highlands of Scotland. We are also ideally situated near the start and end points of the North Coast 500.
Each room includes a flat-screen TV, an iPod docking station, and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite shower rooms have complimentary toiletries and a hair-dryer. Two rooms have a spa bath.
We help guests with their options for dinner and provide maps to the middle of Inverness’s restaurant district or the fabulous Black Isle restaurants. In their room is a folder with the menus from the Black Isle’s most popular restaurants, and that if they wish, after they have chosen one, we can make the booking for them if they wish.
In every bedroom we go for that “wow” experience as the guests opens their door for the first time. The bedrooms are large, warm, very well lit, they have a traditional feel and dramatic furnishings. In the mornings, Old Drynie House serves breakfast in the dining room, which overlooks the garden. Dishes are prepared using the best local produce.
We offer an extensive menu for breakfast. Wherever possible the food is locally sourced from, (in our opinion), the best suppliers we can find. This is especially true of butcher meat and eggs, (they are truly magnificent), but the guests come first, for example local cheeses are not popular, and are therefore not used.
Both the table and the side tables are other “wow” factors we are working on constantly.
