RSPB Scotland Fairy Glen Nature Reserve
In a hidden glen, not far from Inverness, is a magical broadleaf woodland known as Fairy Glen. This small and steep-sided reserve is the perfect place to relax and connect with nature. Follow the winding footpath to discover two beautiful waterfalls, while keeping an eye out for buzzards circling overhead or a grey heron stalking fish along the glittering stream.
What will you see:
This magical glen is thriving with wildlife all year round, making it a fantastic attraction to both summer visitors and those who wish to experience the NC500 in the winter months. Buzzards soar the sky throughout the year while song-thrush and long-tailed tits hop about the glen in winter. During the spring, the glen is beautifully carpeted with wildflowers and in summer the spotted flycatcher comes to visit. Another resident seen at most times of the year is the brightly coloured bullfinch.
